Hi I'm Matthew

I'm a husband, a father, a medical resident and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-Day Saints. It brings me joy, hope and peace. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I know that we have a Father in Heaven who loves us and wants to bless us. I know that we can find happiness in God's commandments. I am a medical resident. My favorite part is meeting patients and trying to help. I know that Heavenly Father loves all of us and I can feel his love for others when I care for them as a physician. I consider being a husband and father one of my greatest blessings. I know that families were created to help us find joy and help us return home to God. One of my favorite things to do is to run. It allows me to take a break and spend sometime alone. I love how I can push myself and feel a sense of accomplishment at working hard. There are many wonderful religious and philosophies on the Earth today, but I know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only church with the true priesthood of God. The priesthood was restored to Joseph Smith by Peter, James and John. God leads his people by calling prophets and he called Joseph Smith to lead us in the latter-days.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings me great joy! As I live the commandments of Jesus Christ he blesses me with peace, comfort and happiness. I am a Mormon because I know the LDS Church is true. I have read the Book of Mormon, I have prayed about it, and I received an answer that it is true. As I have lived the teaching of the LDS Church I have found greater happiness in my life. I am grateful to be a member of this church because it allows me to participate and serve others around me. It is helping me become more like my Savior.

How I live my faith

Every Monday evening my family and I have a special activity called "Family Home Evening." We teach each other about Jesus Christ and spend time together as a family. God's spirit is felt more in our home during the rest of the week as we teach our kids about Christ and his love for us. Sundays are a day of special worship. We attend church and spend time studying about God. We do not work on Sundays and try not to make other people work on Sunday as well. Our family prays together. We pray in the morning, before meals and at night. We pray when we need help making a decision and when someone we know is in need. Every day I start my day in prayer, asking for help and thanking God for a new day. I also end each day in prayer. It helps me remember all that I am grateful for. Studying the scriptures is an important part of my life. I study the Book of Mormon, Bible and other scriptures daily by myself and with my family. The scriptures helps me learn more about God. Reading the words of the living LDS General Authorities is also inspiring and helping me become a better disciple of Jesus Christ. Fasting is also a way that I live my faith. Every month I fast for 24 hours and donate the money we would have spent on food and beverages to those in our area who are in need. It is an uplifting experience that brings me closer to God. My wife and I try to attend the temple as often as possible. It is a place of worship and peace. We pray to God while we are there and ask for special blessings. Attending the temple rejuvenates me and gives me spiritual power. I serve in my church as a Sunday School Teacher. My wife and I teach the 12-14 year old youth together on Sundays. I love preparing my lessons and I am trying to help them learn the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The youth we teach are impressive and I am inspired weekly by their examples. I also serve as a home teacher. I visit with the people who I am asked to care for and try to help them with their needs.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

It is a way that I can give back to my Heavenly Father. He has given me so much. I am so grateful for my family, my work, my school, and the abilities he has given me. I am grateful for the opportunity to give him 10% of my income. I know what I give to God goes to helping build churches, take care of the needy, and helps me better worship my Savior. How can I know Mormonism is true?

You have to have a sincere desire to know if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. You have to be willing to obey God when he answers you. Go to an LDS sacrament meeting, invite the LDS missionaries to your home, talk with some of the members and you will see why people attend the church. We love Jesus Christ and we want to serve and worship him. The Holy Ghost speaks to our hearts and can testify to us what is true and of God. Show more Show less
