Hi I'm Bruce

I live in North Florida and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in North Florida and retired after working in the electrical utility industry for 37 years as a power lineman, crew foreman and manager. I have a beautiful wife and we have 3 wonderful children, 2 great son-in laws and 2 fantastic grandsons, who we take care of every week day while their parents work. I love spending time with my family. I enjoy going the gym and working out, watching college football, and I am a "PBR" Professional Bull Riders fan.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints but did not fully know what it was all about or the truth of it until in the spring of 1972 when I read the Book of Mormon for the first time. After I had finished reading the Book of Mormon I ask God in prayer if the book was true. I had a wonderful spiritual experience from my Heavenly Father, by the power of the Holy Ghost and received a witness that the book was true and that Joseph Smith translated the book from an ancient record. I also received a witness and testimony that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and He is my Savior and Redeemer; and that after His resurrection He visited the ancient people in the Americas, taught them His gospel and set up His church. I love my Savior Jesus Christ, I try to follow Him and live His teachings.

How I live my faith

I try to live my life following Jesus Christ and to be an example to others. I have served in many capacities in the church and have served in whatever has been ask of me. One of the really fun church calling that my wife and I had was team teaching the 3 year old primary class for two hours on Sunday. We served in that calling for one year and had 9 boys and 3 girls that we taught. We made 12 great little friends. I am not perfect, but I am working on living as Christ would have me live. I try to help my neighbors when I see a need and go about doing good every day. My wife and I contribute regularly to the poor and needy, humanitarian projects, and to young people who need funds to get an education; these funds the church collects, given voluntarily, to help those in need.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

I believe in the Bible. I particularly love the 4 gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. I just finished reading these 4 books again. These 4 books in the Bible are sacred scriptures which tell of the birth, ministry, mission, atoning sacrifice, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. These are true accounts of the life of Jesus Christ and when we read and ponder them, we grow closer to Him, and that helps us to keep His commandments. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He came to this earth and was born of Mary as his mother and God as his Father. That he worked many mighty miracles and that he went about doing good while on earth and He is our great exemplar. That he worked out the great atonement and took upon himself our sins on condition of repentance. That he was crucified and was resurrected. That he showed himself to his apostles and many others after his resurrection. That he visited the people in the Americas after his resurrection and that they are some of the "other sheep" that he spoke of. John 10: 16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. That He visited the prophet Joseph Smith in the spring of 1820 and restored his church again on the earth. That He is the Head of the "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" today and leads us through a Prophet. Show more Show less
