Hi I'm Duane Farnsworth

I'm a Mormon husband and father.

About Me

I teach High School Social Studies and enjoy watching various sports espescially baseball and college football. I also golf, swim, and walk for recreational activities. Reading biographies, histories, and American literature as well as the Scriptures are also enjoyable activities for me. My wife and I have three children.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was born into the Mormon faith, I did not come from the sterotypical Mormon home. While my parents loved each other and their marriage lasted 44 years, many of those years very filled with very little mormon activities or lifestyle choices. For example, my father smoked and drank heavily for much of his adult life. As a result, even though I went to church or went to visit family in Utah my childhood home was filled with many non mormon activities. Once my siblings and I were born, my mother made more of an effort to teach us the religion of our family. Consequently by the time I graduated from high school, I had placed before me two very seperate paths. I was free to engage in what non mormons would accept as normal activities or I could shape my life according to the Savior's gospel. I chose the latter because I gain a strong belief in the mission of Joseph Smith when I was about 12. Accepting Joseph Smith's role as a prophet in modern times has helped me to stay committed to the gospel teachings of the Savior. By understanding how a prophet of any time period speaks for the Lord, my committment level to Jesus Christ has increased and I am grateful for the life he gave for me and all others who will accept him as the Savior of the world.

How I live my faith

I currently serve our congregation in the Youn Men's Presidency. Myself and other adult males assist and serve the young men ages 12-18 of our congregation with various acitivies. These range from spirtiual growth and testimony development, priesthood service, scouting, along with other social activities.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Duane Farnsworth
As a Mormon I do not worship Joseph Smith. I accept him as prophet and apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ with the same authority as the Old Testament Prophets and New Testament Apostles. While I value and am grateful for Joseph Smith's personal life and mission, I recognize only Jesus Christ as my Savior. Show more Show less
