Hi I'm Charles Wayne Foster R.

I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

About Me

I'm married. My wife and I have a beautiful son. I served a two year mission for my church and I did it honorably. That was a great experience for me. After completing my mission I returned home. I started working and attending college. I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I am a Latter-day Saint? First, I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church. It is our Savior's church. He is at the head. How I know it is true? Before I served my mission I had to gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon. I read this book and I knelt down in humble prayer and asked our Father in Heaven if the book was true. The feeling that I got was unmistakable. I felt the Holy Spirit so strong I knew that the book was true. From that time on I also knew that Joseph Smith Jr. was a true prophet. There is no other church in the world that has a prophet, apostles, or seventies. The Lord established one church, and being a member of the Lord's church makes sense. If the Lord established one true church, wouldn't it make sense to be a part of His church? I thought so.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the L.D.S. faith is not an easy thing to do. However, I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church. It is set up the same way as the church our Savior established when He was on the earth and it is His church. In saying that, I strive to follow the path that our Savior has laid out for me as an individual. The Lord set a perfect example of how to act, treat others, and show proper respect to our Father in Heaven. I have learned a great deal being a member of the Lord's church. Isn't life a lesson of continuous learning?

What is being a Mormon like?

Charles Wayne Foster R.
It's great! My wife and I are so grateful to be members of the Latter-day Saint faith. Both my wife and I are able to serve others in our faith and each other. Correct principles are taught which eliminates a lot of confusion. Show more Show less

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Charles Wayne Foster R.
We are encouraged to wear our Sunday best. So if you have a nice pair of pants, shirt, and shoes then that is what you should wear. However, if you have a suit, white shirt, and tie you should be in good shape. We celebrate Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving. Pretty much what everyone else celebrates. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Charles Wayne Foster R.
Joseph Smith Jr. translated the Book of Mormon. It was wrote by many prophets who shared their own personal spiritual and secular lessons with us for our day. These teachings were recorded on gold plates. Mormon took these teachings and experiences, and he compiled them into one book. Hence the name, The Book of Mormon. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

Charles Wayne Foster R.
Latter-day Saints believe that the Holy Ghost is a member of the God Head. The Holy Ghost is like unto us, but does not have a body of flesh and bones as we do. The Holy Ghost testifies of truth and brings peace to our hearts and minds. The Savior said, "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." St. John 14:26 Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Charles Wayne Foster R.
We believe that we are saved by grace after all we can do. We are taught in the New Testament by James that works without faith are dead. He said, "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?" James 2:17-20 Our Savior set the perfect example of living a sinless life and exercising His faith to His Father. It is because of the Savior that grace is extended to us. Show more Show less

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Charles Wayne Foster R.
How a person dresses is a direct correlation to chastity. A woman who demands respect doesn't dress immodestly. She dresses in a way that screams I demand respect. A man will do the same. Dressing in such a correct manner stave's off temptation of committing inappropriate acts. The best way to teach your children is to set a good example for them. As a young parent I'm learning that what I say and do has a major reflection of what type of parent and person I am. Remember that each child is different and will respond in their own way.
