Hi I'm Diane Alta

About Me

I'm a 53 year old wife, mother of three sons and grandmother too! I enjoy reading, cooking, spending family time, walking, and I enjoy making handcrafted greeting cards and decorative woodcraft projects. I am a retired NAVY wife and have lived in many different areas of the United States. I've enjoyed traveling and making our home wherever my husband was assigned to and have been blessed with many opportunities to make new friends and learn about other cultures. I also enjoy using other social networking sites to get reconnected with old friends and have even made some new friends along the way. I love technology and I love to learn!

Why I am a Mormon

I loved attending vacation Bible School when I was a child and from that experience I always had questions about who I was, what was my purpose here and where am I headed. When my husband and I married and moved away we began attending churches of different faiths. We felt like each had "bits and pieces" of what we were searching for but nothing ever really "clicked" until after my husband got out of the NAVY and we began looking for jobs and a place to live. We took a chance and things began to "fall into place". You see, the Lord knows what we are searching for because we are His children. So, my husband worked with a couple of members of the Mormon church and they lived their religion! The night that the missionaries knocked on our door on that cold, dark December evening back in 1985 was the answer that we had been searching for! Over the next several weeks we felt so blessed to know that we are Gods children, that He knows each one of us personally and He desires for us to come back to Him. It's so wonderful to know that He hasn't left us alone, that we are led by living prophets today and that His word didn't end with the Bible, but that The Book of Mormon is meant for us and are His words given to us in and for this time. I'm so thankful to know that God lives, that His son, Jesus Christ loved me so much that He paid for my sins with His precious blood and that He lives and seeks for me to live with Him again.

How I live my faith

I am not a perfect person, but I do try my best to live my religion as best I can. Just as Jesus served His fellow beings when He walked the Earth, I guess you could say that I have taught almost all ages of people in the church, men, women and children and yes, teenagers! I have had many great experiences serving others...like helping care for a sweet woman in her last days of her life, or helping to keep the church clean, serving meals to new moms or people that are sick, serving as a committee member for the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a den leader for the Cub Scout program. Living my faith has truly enriched my life and helped me to grow and progress as an individual.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

We are God's children and He wants all of His children to return to Him. We believe that a family is central in God's plan. Show more Show less
