Hi I'm Kameo

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My husband and I have four children, one of which has autism. I stay at home in order to take care of them, and love that I am able to do so. Much of the service I have done within the church has been music related. I am an amateur musician and enjoy composing simple music for ward choirs and personal use.

Why I am a Mormon

Through my life I have been able to feel the spirit as it testifies to me the truthfulness of the gospel of Christ as it is taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As I read my scriptures, attend my meetings and attempt to live a righteous life, I am overcome with blessings and a peace which helps me to know I have chosen the right path. Though I have always been a member of this church, I know without doubt it is where I should be. The peace I feel within my heart tells me Heavenly Father and Christ are real, that Christ suffered in Gethsemane and died on the cross in order to atone for my sins. I listen to the prophets and read the scriptures and know they are and were men of God. I know they have been placed on the earth as a way to help us to find our way to Christ - so we can know the truth. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had in my life which have helped my testimony to be strengthened and also for the opportunities to feel and recognize the Savior's love.

How I live my faith

My family travels to a small branch outside our community to help support the church members in that area. I help with providing the music, and in teaching the children 3-12. I love being able to serve in this way and to teach my children the importance of serving how the Lord has asked us to serve. It has been a blessing in our lives to be able to serve in the branch. Our family has become closer as we recognize the importance of supporting each other in the ways we are asked to serve. I also serve as a music coordinator for the stake. I am able to organize the music being used for stake conferences. It is always a special experience to watch members come together to sing praises to the Lord as we prepare for our bi-annual conferences. I am always able to feel the love of Heavenly Father and know the members voices are being strengthened by the spirit.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

We increase our faith in Christ by doing those things He has asked of us. When we follow the commandments to the best of our ability, say our prayers read our scriptures, etc, we are able to feel of the spirit as it testifies of the love that Jesus Christ has for us. We are able to become closer to Him which then increases our faith. In my life I have had experiences where I was not serving the Lord as well as I could have been. I was doing closer to the minimum, not as much as was possible for me to do. As I increased my willingness to serve as I had been asked, I found my faith and testimony increasing. It isn't about doing it all at once, but instead about doing it steadily. It is recognizing that you are able to do just that little bit more, and having the desire to do it because it will bring you closer to Christ. Show more Show less

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Yes it is. The account is found in 3 Nephi in the Book of Mormon. After much confusion and destruction, Jesus appeared to the Nephites. One by one they felt of the scars on His hands and His feet. They felt His side where the sword had pierced Him. (3 Nephi, chapter 11) After teaching them for a time Jesus announced He would leave for the night so people could ponder what it is that He has taught. Then He looked over the people and saw the tears as they desired that He stay longer with them. It is then that He said, "Behold, my bowels are filled with compassion towards you" Jesus then called for all the sick and healed them. Then He called for the children and he called the angels from heaven to minister to those precious children. (3 Nephi, chapter 17) The love that Jesus showed to these people, as He listened to the desires of their hearts and stayed with them longer, blessing them further is nothing short of miraculous to me. He loved them so much. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

I really do believe there is! Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet who listens to the Lord and helps to teach us His will. He is capable of, and has performed miracles throughout his life, just as Moses did, but it isn't the miracles that makes me believe he is a prophet, it is his words and the peace I feel when I listen to him speak. I only have to listen to know what he is saying is truth - the spirit testifies to me that he is a man of God. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead. He has no body. He is able to bring us peace, to comfort us and to testify of truth. He is the comforter spoken of by Christ to the disciples (John 14:16). It is through the Holy Ghost that I am able to recognize the gospel is true. It is how I feel Heavenly Father's love for me. He helps me in times when life is hard, and shows me the way when the way seems hidden. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

It is the small things in life that tell me that Heavenly Father exists and loves me. It's the quiet of the breeze in the early morning hours of the day, the smile of my child as they greet me when they walk in the door from school, and the love of a husband as he listens to me describe my struggles.
