Hi I'm Lorraine

About Me

I am a 44 yo single mother and work as a respiratory therapist. I have 3 children, but only live with 1 of them. My spare time, not that I have much, is used for genealogy work and walking my miniature dachshund, Buster.

Why I am a Mormon

I converted to this church when I was in my early 20's. My parents did not take me to church growing up, so once I left home when I was 18, I started searching for the church for me. I tried many churches and some felt right for a while, but I always had questions that reading the bible didn't answer. Most of the churches I visited talk of the "holy trinity" as if God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost were all one person, but in the bible, where Jesus was baptised, it said Heavenly Father spoke saying "this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased", the Holy Ghost came down as a dove and there was Jesus in the water. If they were one person, how could that be? see Matthew 3:16 & 17 One day I was watching TV and one of the church's commercials came on. What it said interested me, so I called and had a Book of Mormon sent to me. I received it on a Friday and I spent the weekend reading it cover to cover. When I was done, I did what it said to do and I prayed to be given the knowledge if it were true. I felt this wonderful sensation, like my heart calling out to Heavenly Father and his response of unconditional love. Monday afternoon, when I got home from work, there were 2 missionaries at my door, I was baptised 2 weeks later. I won't say that joining the church was the easiest thing I have ever done, but it has changed my life in so many good ways and I thank Heavenly Father every day for the truth being sent to me.

How I live my faith

A calling in the church is like a job, for example, Sunday school teacher, Relief Society President, or a teacher in the Young Womens organization. I have been in my current ward a little over a year and I am still making friends. My only calling is that of a visiting teacher, which I try my best to be a good one. I have been praying to get a calling to work with the young women.
