Hi I'm Marcel Souza

I'm Brazilian, I'm an Industrial Design student, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

Born and raised in Curitiba-Parana-Brazil. My wife and I have been in the US for the past 5 years but we can't wait to go back.I t has been great to live in the US, but "there is nothing like home!!!". The majority of my family is back there as well as all my friends. I absolutely love my country, my culture, my people, and most importantly, my wife and daughter. So far, life has been challenging but very worthwhile. There are ups and downs, but what really matters is what we learn from every moment I had the privilege to serve my full-time LDS mission in Mesa Arizona. It was a challenging but rather an Incredible experience. The people I had a chance to meet and interact with were just wonderful. Of course that there were some people I had a little hard time getting a long with but overall I learned a lot from everybody. First and foremost I love my Heavenly Father. I also love my wife and my little daughter who I can't see myself without. I am passionate about Design (Industrial Design), Automobiles, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Beach, Brazil, and Soccer.

Why I am a Mormon

Because it completes me as a person, it gives my life meaning, it teaches me true life-principles, it strengthens my relationship with God and my family, and it enables to become better as a person, father, son, and husband. I believe that we can learn many great things from all people in the world. Truth and happiness is not restricted to any religious sect, BUT i believe that all the truth about life and God can be found in Mormonism. I know the true happiness, or a higher level of happiness can be found and cultivated in the Mormon religion. That's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

A day at a time. Sometimes it is quite hard to do every thing right. There are many distractions in the world today. There are also many misunderstandings about Life and God that eventually get into our subconscious. But I try to live my faith. I try harder and harder everyday. I think I will never be as good as I want to but at least I'll try as hard as I can.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Marcel Souza
The purpose of life for Mormons is to be truly happy (and everything that it entails). We believe that happiness can be achieved by living God's commandments and raising a family. In order for those two things to be achieved, we need to be self-reliant. Self-reliance is a principle of service. Service to you, your family, and others. when we become self-reliant we more openly look for opportunities to help others. I don't think God wanted us to be dependable to others. God wanted us to reach our potential and live our lifes to the fullest. As far as emergency preparedness, we have been commanded by God through a Prophet to do it. Anybody who has watched the news lately, has probably noticed many unusual natural disasters, financial down turns, inter-continent conflicts, and so forth. You don't have to be super smart to realize that building an emergency preparedness plan, or food storage, are the right things to do. Show more Show less
