Hi I'm Brent

I gew up a Mormon, but did not stand on my own testimony til I was 17 - which is when I asked the Father with real intent

About Me

I love the outdoors: camping, bicycling, hiking, gardening, and watching my kids play. I am a healthcare executive. I enjoy an adventure or a good book (someone else's adventure). I am a father or 4 and grandfather of 7 (the grandkids have been much easier to raise)

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Over the years, I have had a number of wonderful experiences associated with making good choices and having them confirmed to me by the Holy Spirit. I have also made some bad choices along the way. During high school I had planned to stop going to church after I left home. I eventually decided that making such a decision would certainly have significant impact on my life; and if what I had been taught were true, the consequences would be eternal. So at age seventeen I set out to read the Book of Mormon to decide for myself. I had read excerpts of the book but never cover to cover - nor had I prayed about its veracity. Now I really wanted to know for my self. So I began to read and pray. I was only a few weeks into this process when one day as I was reading, I was overcome with such a feeling of joy and confirmation, that I could not hold back the tears. As a 17 year old boy, I was not accustomed to this. I remember feeling amazed that God knew who I was. At that time I began in earnest to prepare to serve a full time mission, which I did when I was nineteen. This service brought me very close to the Lord. The opportunity to serve Him every day and see his hand at work in the lives of the Bolivian people solidified my testimony. Over the next 30+ years, I have enjoyed serving Him, and the Holy Ghost has confirmed over and over again that this is His work. He restored His priesthood authority to the earth through Joseph Smith and He has a living Prophet on the earth today. I know this; and He knows that I know it. My testimony of these things anchors me to His church - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

Since I was raised in a culture of service, I have done it all my life. Community service projects with church young men's organization regularly taught me the blessings of giving of my time. Over the years I have served in various church and community roles. I served as a full-time 2 year mission in Bolivia when I was 19. As an adult I have served as an instructor to youth and adults, various support and leadership roles. Most of my professional life, I have served on various community boards of directors where I have lived including: local Chambers of Commerce, the American Lung Association, The YMCA, The United Way, The Boy Scouts of America, a State Lieutenant Governor's task force and hospital board of directors.
