Hi I'm Malcolm

I am a husband and father, a Barbecue restaurant owner, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

Our family enjoys music. We get together at times and sing around the piano. It is a wonderful way to lift the feelings in our home. We enjoy hiking, biking, and the great outdoors. We love the change in seasons and always love the fall colors. I was born in the south and spent much time on the family farm. Raising vegetables and the art of cooking were part of each day. It rubbed off and I ended up in the restaurant business. We enjoy the people we associate with and the community we are apart of. We have had so many good people work for us. We enjoy the friendships we have forged through the years. I am trying to enjoy a good bit more time in the gym these days. That has not come as easy for me as cooking. We must press on.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the south where lots of people go to church. My family attended different churches but one day the missionaries knocked at our door and my mom invited them in and soon we were at the mormon church. It didn't take long before we knew this church was different. Growing up and going to church taught me to pray to my Heavenly Father and study his teachings recorded in the scriptures. I learned there were prophets in the old days and our church teaches that the truth that Christ taught has been restored to the earth in our day through a modern day prophet. The Lord still talks to his people. We can receive answers to our prayers. He can guide our lives. That is a good thing in these uncertain times.

How I live my faith

I look forward to meeting our church friends each week as we worship together through music and our worship services we call Sacrament meeting. I am also part of our local church leadership as a counselor for our Bishop. We take turns conducting our Sacrament meetings on Sundays. We also work with the youth and children's programs of the church. Keeping all callings filled seems to be an ongoing responsibility because things are always changing and rarely stays the same.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Jesus said if you love me keep my commandments. I know that as we study the scriptures about Christ we learn the things he expects us to do. As we follow his teachings our desire to do so increases. I think that brings us closer to Jesus. Our understanding increases and our faith grows. Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

We are fortunate to have wonderful leaders in the church who have lived exemplary lives. They have in their studies and professional careers have walked a higher road. Throughout the ages the Lord has called certain people like these leaders to be his mouth piece for the rest of us and to lead us in our lives as we follow the Savior Jesus Christ. These special representatives are prophets. Just like Moses of old we are blessed to have in our day a Prophet named Thomas S. Monson. He has lead a life filled with wonderful service to others. His service did not begin the moment he was called but long before. I have listened to his words for decades before he was called as prophet. I know He is the Lord's chosen servant at this time in history just like Moses was in the Old Testament. Show more Show less
