Hi I'm Lionel Walters

I'm a husband, father, leader, educator and follower of Jesus Christ.

About Me

I'm married to my best friend and we love our three precious daughters. We both have wonderful grandparents, parents, siblings and cousins whom we love and admire. At work, I'm a leader, educator, coach and change agent and find greatest fulfilment in strengthening communities by enabling sustainable positive outcomes for individuals and families through education and new technologies.

Why I am a Mormon

I have learned from associations with great people of many faiths and no faith that life can be good without faith in God and His Son Jesus Christ. For me, however, my Christian faith enlightens and inspires every good thing in my life and gives me strength to endure and find meaning in the difficult things. Because I believe that God is the father of all humankind, I try to love and see divine potential in everyone I meet - especially those who don't believe in Him or who don't agree with me. Because I believe that He is the Creator and subject to natural law, I embrace science as a quest to discover how He did it and which eternal laws govern my own life's creations. Because I believe that Jesus is God's literal Son, I trust that God empathises with my imperfection and striving to be a good father. Because I believe that Jesus gave His life to pay for my imperfection, I strive every day to live on His side of the law to honour that great gift. Because I believe that He made it possible for families to be together forever, I try to honour and serve my own family and to strengthen other families within my community. This is what I believe and how I try to live, but I would defend anybody's right to believe or worship differently to me as long as they respect that same right for others. Diversity and respectful disagreement are keys to harmony in this wonderful world we live in!

How I live my faith

My faith and trust in Jesus Christ motivates me to try to follow His example every day: at home, work and in the community. He inspires me to work hard, to be honest and to serve others. He transforms the mundane tasks of daily life into opportunities to learn and grow, and He helps me become more than I could ever be on my own. I know that I am far from perfect, so I rely on Jesus to help me feel forgiven of past mistakes and to give me hope that I can live better in the future. My life is filled with wonder, purpose and joy because of Him!
