Hi I'm Ashley Joanna Elizabeth

I have been blessed by the freedom of choice.

About Me

I graduated from with my B.S. three years ago and have two beautiful children! My husband and I are both Canadian, so that's where we are currently raising our family. I love the west coast and all of the outdoors we get to enjoy here. In the few spare moments I get throughout the day I enjoy reading (as an English major--this doesn't happen often enough), doing genealogy research, and taking a break with kids outside. Pretty simple. A lot of work. A lot of fun!

Why I am a Mormon

After some difficult trials in my youth, one evening I decided to humble myself and admit there had to be something more for me. The decisions I had made up to that point were those that the world had told me would make me happy, but I felt so awful about myself and was confused about where to turn to. I began that night to pray out loud, to God, or whomever was listening, and the simple words just flowed right out as I asked that He help me, "choose the right." I was overcome with emotion as I recalled a conversation I had with a good friend about what her church ring stood for; CTR, Choose the Right, is a motto all youth grow up familiar with to help them remember the Lord in their decisions. I felt ready to learn and grow spiritually, and I felt like I knew exactly where God wanted me to go: to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While learning the gospel from the missionaries, I felt at peace, like I was returning home and remembering things once taught yet forgotten. So at 17 I joined the Church and have lived so happily since. Trials still come, but I feel strength in a knowledge that I am living a life that God is pleased with and that I find great fulfillment and joy in.

How I live my faith

I am the youth leader over our group of girls here. I find it so rewarding and fun to be in their presence! They have strengthened my faith as they go throughout their school years turning away from activities such as drinking, smoking, doing drugs, and having sex. At times, they have lost their only circle of friends by refusing to participate, but I have seen the Lord strengthen them and lead them to other people with similar values. I love them and hope to be the best example I can be!

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Ashley Joanna Elizabeth
What a beautiful question to answer, and I will try my best! We believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior of all mankind; that He lived, died, and conquered death for us because of His love for each of us. My testimony grew in the Church as I learned more and more about His life and example, for He is our perfect example in all things. He is the Only Begotten, meaning the literal Son of God, born of Mary, a righteous mortal woman. Studying about Christ in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon will bring a spirit of love into your heart, as it did mine. Contemplating that someone, even Deity, would give up His will so that I can have the freedom to make mistakes and yet still make my way back to a perfect God and live in happiness here and into eternity makes me feel so overwhemingly grateful!
