Hi I'm Nathan

I grew up in Alaska. I'm a CPA. I'm a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Alaska and developed a love for the outdoors. I enjoy hiking, camping, and fishing. I've always enjoyed playing and watching sports. I grew up playing basketball, football, and soccer. I met my wife on a basketball road trip (we both played in college) and we've been married for over 10 years. I graduated with a Master's Degree in Accounting and currently work as a CPA for a public accounting firm. My wife and I are expecting our second set of twin boys (huge surprise...as if one set wasn't enough), which will bring our total number of children to five (all boys...our young basketball team is set!). I love learning from my kids and being a dad.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon home with wonderful parents who taught me the basic principles of the gospel. As I continued to grow up in the Church, I found answers to many of my questions about life. I discovered my life had a purpose, and that purpose was to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon because I believe the way to happiness is through living the gospel of Jesus Christ. I believe the teachings and principles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the name of the Mormon Church) are true, and when I've followed those principles I've been much happier in my life. I gained a testimony of the teachings of the Church through my experiences in life, as well as prayer and fasting. I'm a Mormon because I believe our Father in Heaven (the Father of our spirits) still speaks to us and answers our prayers. He has answered my prayers through the Holy Ghost, who communicates through a peaceful, spiritual feeling. These feelings and prompting have increased my faith and desire to live the gospel as taught by Jesus Christ, which has brought me great happiness in my life.

How I live my faith

Most importantly, I live my faith within my own family. We have prayers often in our home and enjoy reading stories from the scriptures. Every Monday night is Family Night in our home. Our sons are still at the age where it is fun and exciting to be around Mom and Dad. Family Night has certainly helped us remain close to each other. As a member of the Church, I have the opportunity to serve in my community in various ways. A few examples of these service opportunities include: • Organizing outdoor activities for the youth (ages 12-18) including fireside devotionals. • Visiting families once a month to share a spiritual message and ensure their needs are provided. • Teaching classes on the Old and New Testaments, The Book of Mormon, Modern-day revelations, as well as Marriage and Family relationships. • Helping families move in and out of their homes. Serving in the church has enriched my life and expanded my circle of friends.
