Hi I'm Pete

I love the mountains. I love to climb. I love to bike. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to an amazing woman and together we have raised our three children, who are now all attending college. My family and faith are the foundation of my life. I have a doctoral degree in electrical and computer engineering and work in the technology industry. I love spending time in the outdoors. When I have free time I bike, rock climb, and hike in the mountains near our home.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were members of the Church, so as a child I was a Mormon because they were. I can remember being young and not feeling particularly excited to attend church. However, as I grew older and experienced some of the challenges of life I began to look forward to the peace and calmness I felt as I attended church. I now find greater purpose in attending church, as it gives me the opportunity not only to be nurtured, but to nurture others. However, the primary reason I am a Mormon is because I believe the doctrine. I believe the Church is led by God through a prophet, following the pattern God established in the Old Testament. I believe God continues to speak and reveal truth to guide His children back to Him. The Church provides the structure in which this doctrine can be taught and lived.

How I live my faith

I believe God loves all of His children unconditionally. I believe He meets their needs through others. For me, the deepest expression of faith is to view God's children as He does and treat them as He would. I believe God blesses us through each other. Life is a complex and difficult journey, but we are not traveling alone.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Tithing is used to operate the church. I'm sure I don't fully understand how paying tithing blesses my life, but I do believe one of the greatest blessings is it changes my perspective on money. It is so easy to get overly focused on money. Tithing is a regular reminder to put something above accumulating wealth. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Absolutely. I especially love the language of the Gospels and the story of Christ's mortal life. Being able to read about Him helps me as I try to understand and follow His example. Show more Show less
