Hi I'm Matt

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a grateful husband and a happy father of three (soon to be four) beautiful children. An investment advisor by trade, my true passion is music composition and recording engineering.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because nothing else makes any sense when looked at wholistically. If you look closely, there is no other religion nor Christian denomination that teaches more mercy than ours. As you study the doctrines of vicarious work for those who are no longer with us, you will see how truly and perfectly merciful our Heavenly Father is. Without this docrtine - this truth - the plan feels empty, and incomplete. As you learn of modern prophets and the pure love that our Heavenly Father continues to have for us by calling them, your heart will yearn for more. The truths of the restored gospel just make sense. So I encourage whoever might read this; do all you can to put all preconceived notions aside and listen to your sensibilities. If you do that, you will know that everything you are learning is true. Not necessarily because you read it in the Book of Mormon (although there is no greater tool), and not because you were taught by someone you trust. But becuase it will simply taste good to you. It will be the spirit of truth speaking truth to your spirit. And you will know as I. Christ promised that through Him, we can have life more abundantly. I am not here trying to say that happiness can only be achieved through the gospel. But I do know that a fullness of joy can only be acheived through the restored gospel and through Christ's restored church. Life more abundantly. If you had the choice between a good life and the best life, wouldn't you choose the best? This is my testimony: That you are discovering the best right here, right now, as you read this and other testimonies regarding the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Don't settle for just 'good' when you can have the 'best'. Don't settle for just happiness when you can have a fullness of joy. I invite you to come, bring all the good that you have, and let us add to it, so that you might have life more abundantly.

How I live my faith

This is always a tough one to think about. Hopefully I'm not the only person that has a hard time answering this question. The fullness of the gospel is there to give us a fullness of joy. I suppose this is what I try to do in living my faith. To be joyful. To show those around me the complete happiness that comes when we fold our lives into the truths offered through the restoration.

What are some of the ways that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps those around the world?

We have a wonderful humanitarian aid program that has given an enormous amount of food and other goods to those in need World wide. We may be based out of the United States, but we are truly a world wide church. We also have a very active missionary program that is in most countries in the world. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

This is another doctrine that simply tastes good as you learn and pray on it. The answer is a resounding yes. Families can be forever. Not only can they be, they should be. This is the ultimate fulfillment of our creation. However, there are steps that must be taken in order for this blessing to come to fruition. You'll learn about those steps as you continue your study with the missionaries. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We believe that we are saved by grace, and then rewarded for our works. We believe all who accept Christ will be partakers of salvation by grace alone. But we also believe that there are crowns of glory to be worked towards - or for lack of a better word, earned. In order to understand this, one must first understand where we are headed to - what 'heaven' is and what we are supposed to spend the eternities doing. Once you understand this, you'll understand the need for both Christ's grace, and our anxious engagement in the causes of truth and love. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Absolutely. We believe in the Bible, so long as it has been translated correctly. We use the Book of Mormon and the Bible as companions to one another. Currently, I am doing a deep study of the Old Testament. I love the rich stories that teach us how the Lord interacts with those who follow him. One of my favorites is the story of Gideon.
