Hi I'm Cameron

I was born in Atlanta and grew up in California. I love learning and education, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When I get time off work I love good food and good conversation with my wife, Katie. Most of the time I just enjoy spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel like I've always known that the Mormon church is true, but it wasn't until I started to live the principles that I began to really feel and understand why following Jesus Christ is what makes me happy. God gives me an opportunity to serve others. I find I'm happier when I live the principles I know to be true. My relationship with the Savior improves, and my love for other people grows.

How I live my faith

I visit three families in my congregation at least once a month to see how they are doing and attend to their needs. Most of the time this just means a meaningful visit and a message from the scriptures, but sometimes it means help with transportation or even paying rent. In addition, I support the local leadership by handling all the tithing and fast offering donations from the members of the church. Handling these donations teaches me that donations to the church go to where they are needed most.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

I think you can know the same way I learned: live the principles, then ask God if what you're doing is right. Some people may try to talk you into things or out of things, but God can let you know in a way that is just right for you. And when He testifies to you, you will know that it's true. Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Yes, a husband and wife can be together forever, and yes, families can live together in heaven. We believe that the goal here in life is to build heaven--a place of peace, safety, love and compassion--on earth one home at a time. So as we build fulfilling, healthy, happy marriages and families, we are starting something that can last forever. I think that's a little bit daunting at times, but that's where faith comes in. God helps us as we do what is right, and we can have His help in our homes as much as anywhere else in our lives. Show more Show less

What is a ward/stake/branch?

The Church is organized into congregations, or wards. These are groups of roughly 100-200 people. If there aren't enough people in a close region to form a ward, then those people belong to a branch--basically a smaller congregation. A stake is a group of wards and/or branches. Show more Show less

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

I think it can influence us all differently, but I know God wants us to get the most out of our relationships with our families and friends. Sometimes having faith in Christ means focusing on what my family or friends need rather than on what I need, and believing that is what He wants me to do. Also, Christ is a master example at this; but I think faith means we believe He can help us be more like Him, not just going through the motions, but really caring about people, even if they hurt us.
