Hi I'm Pam

About Me

My husband died a couple of months ago from congestive heart failure and diabetes. We almost made it to our 20th wedding anniversary. Since I am now a single parent and raising two daughters, ages 12 and 14, my faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ has taken on a whole new meaning. I don't take things for granted any more. I know my husband is close by and is watching over our family. We did get sealed in the temple and that gives me a great deal of comfort because I know we will be together again.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because my parents were getting divorced and I needed something that was not going to collapse when things got bad. I needed something that I could build my whole life around. It had to be strong enough to help me through some pretty bad times. The gospel of Jesus Christ fit my life in every way possible. I have seen miracles in my life that were customed made for me that only God cold see.

How I live my faith

For a while there was a deaf member coming to church so I was interpreting Sacrament meeting for him. Now, I am a Family History Consultant, and I am so excited about that! I have been keeping a journal of my life since I was little, and this seems to be the natural thing for me to do. My daughters are involved with their Wednesday night activities, and their friends at school know their standards.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

No one 'wrote' the Book of Mormon. It was already 'written' by people who lived a long time ago, on gold plates and different material. These were like journals or diaries, and were kept in stone boxes in the ground. Joseph Smith, JR. was instructed to translate the plates. The title, "Book of Mormon" was given. Show more Show less

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is different from the Bible in that it is a record of what happened on the American Continent. It describes in no uncertain terms what happens when you keep the commandments of God and what happens when you don't. It makes you think about your life, and how you want to live it. It causes you to reflect on your life and gives you hope. Joseph got the golden plates from the side of the hill, just as prophesied so long ago. They were in the ground in a box. That was a common way of hiding records back in those days. Show more Show less
