Hi I'm Lyle

I am a son of God . . . a husband, a father and a holder of the Melchizedek priesthood. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the country milking cows and hauling hay. Now I live in the big city and life is a little different. I have experience working in the securities industry and love to trade equities and options on equities. I love to mountain bike and spend time with my wife and kids. More than anything I want to get the best out of what life has to offer me both now and in the eternities. I believe this can only best be done with God's heavenly influence in my life. Religion has everything to do with who I am trying to become. It incorporates every action I take, and making the most out of it. If anyone knows what makes people happy it is God, and that is exactly what He wants for each of us, is to be happy. I can try my best to make a great plan for my life, but I know that God can make much more out of my life than I ever could. So I try to trust in God with all my heart and lean not unto my own understanding, as it says in Proverbs 3:5,6 and I know He shall direct my paths for good. All the things I love to do, mountain bike, play sports, be with my wife and kids. It can never be as wonderful without having the satisfaction of knowing God has a specific plan for me and family, and I am following Him.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon, rather than a Catholic, a Protestant, a Jew, a Muslim, a Buddhist or Hindu? It is because I have diligently studied the scriptures of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and put all the principles it teaches to the test. As I have had a desire to know if these principles are true, I have tried them in my life. For me, it is simple. If the principle produces the result taught in the scriptures then the principle is true. The scriptures especially, the Book of Mormon are filled with stories about people, and prophets. In the stories are gospel principles, as I have experimented and lived these principles they have come alive for me. That is why I am a Mormon. The Bible, the Book of Mormon invite a person to pray to God, and to ask Him for truth. I have done this, not just once, but continually. As I continue to study the scriptures, I continue to pray to God about the truth of the principles, and He continues to reveal His truths. The Savior said in the New Testament, If any man do His will, He shall know of the doctrine. Pray and doing what the scriptures say, have helped me to "know of the doctrine". To pray and ask God a question, and then to have him answer that prayer, helps me to know how much He loves me. In spite of my many shortcomings.

How I live my faith

For me living the gospel of Jesus Christ has everything to do with how I live everyday. My highest most important desires are to love and cherish my wife, and my children. For me the best way I have ever found on earth to do this is to live my religion with exactness. Why? Because keeping the commandments of God feels me with His love, and in my life I have never felt anything more powerful and motivating than His love for me. This motivation led me as a young man to teach others about the gospel for two years in a foreign country. Today, it motivates me to be kind to those around me, to look for opportunities to serve and help other people, and try and share that love from God that I feel in my heart.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a compilation of writings from ancient prophets, and the dealings of God with man throughout the lives of the prophets who took care of the record. Throughout the many writings of the Book of Mormon the principles and teachings of the everlasting Gospel of Jesus Christ are taught and recorded for anyone to read, pray about, and ponder.
