Hi I'm Andy

I like electric cars, solar energy and soccer, but more important than that is I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have worked as as electrician in the Coalmines, local authorities, government organisations and now I work as an Assistant Engineer at the Preston Temple. My interests range from electric cars, solar energy, gym, hiking and football. I am also a season ticket holder at Stoke City and gives me a chance to visit family when I go to one of the games

Why I am a Mormon

The one constant in my life is the Gospel of Jesus Christ which is my rock in the world we live in. I received the nickname Smiler while an apprentice as I walked around with a smile on my face. I am a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1994. A number of years before I joined the Church I saw a colleague in the coalmines get killed. I remember when it happened that I felt my life was a glass bowl and it shattered infront of me. I felt that there was more to life than the life I was leading. When the coalmines closed I put my redundancy into a tea and Coffee business. At the 5th discussion I felt I would have been a hypocrite joining the Church with me being in the business I was in. After I made my speech I was asked if it was OK to read some scriptures. I agreed. A member of the Bishopric started to read from Alma 32 about faith and the seed inside. I had a strong feeling inside of me. Then I was asked to read it. I felt an explosion of the spirit and I could hardly breath it was that powerful. I just knew I could not deny it. Knowing that there is a purpose to life and having the Gospel of Jesus Christ helps to put things into perspective when we face challenges in life.

How I live my faith

I try to be an example though I am not perfect.I serve in the Church on a voluntary basis as a clerk in what we call a Stake. Which is a large area covering a number of congregations. I also help out by visiting familes that may be in need of help.
