Hi I'm Melissa

I like to bake. I love to bike. I live to mother. I'm Melissa. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Mixing and matching words makes me happy- so I write. I mostly write about my children who are busy and hilarious on a slow-day. When I'm not clicking out short-stories of woe and mischief you can usually find me living them: teaching three very-tiny people about the very-great big world, organizing my myriad-of- reno-projects-home, or volunteering in my church, community and local school... all under a pile of laundry and a stack of dishes.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches truth. It makes sense to me- and it feels good to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I do what I believe. If I think something is right and good then I do it. When I make a mistake- I do what I can to fix it. If I think there is something I can do to be a better-then I work on it. Faith without works is dead- so I have beliefs- then I act on them- that's how I live it.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

No. We are known for our close-knit community- but not closed community. We do whatever we can to help each other, and we work to build unity in our faith, but it extends far outward. Over a year ago our congregation worked to collect hundreds of pajamas, slippers, and toiletries for battered women and children. A few months ago Relief Society, the church's womens organization, was responsible for providing hundreds of hand-made baby blankets and finger puppets for the local childrens hospital. In our city last month the young men of our congregation cleaned up a local beach. Later this month latter-day saints throughout our province will be serving a whole non-latter-day-saint town by co-ordinating with the town council to do community service work. Welfare services provide constant relief for those in need in every area our church exists. We believe in "wearing ourselves out in service"- and it is probably one of the things latter-day saints do best. Next time you're working on a community service project- ask if there is a Mormon there- and most likely someone or many someones will put up their hands. Show more Show less

In whom should we have faith?

Jesus Christ. He's the only perfect example. Do what he did and do what he taught and you'll do okay. Show more Show less
