Hi I'm Alicia Rae

About Me

I graduated from college a couple of months ago. I love to read, sew, and cook.

Why I am a Mormon

My mom joined the Mormon church when she was a teenager. She was raised a Christian, but never really understood doctrines about God. She had some friends who were Mormons. One day, some Mormon missionaries came to her house and talked to her mom, who redirected them to her. My mom believed what they were saying and found it simple to believe and joined the church. About fifteen years later, my mom started to date my dad. My mom loved him, but she really wanted to marry someone who was a member of the Mormon church (as this is the only way you can get married in the temple- a very sacred place). After a lot of convincing, my dad listened to the missionaries. After that, he knew that it was the true church and couldn't help but join! Both of my parents are great examples. I was raised in the Mormon church. Looking back, I don't know how I could have lived without it. Being a member of the Mormon church blesses my life everyday. It gives me comfort to know that God is there and that he hears my prayers, and that God has sent a living prophet to this earth to lead and guide us.

How I live my faith

At my church, we have one a week education classes for college age students. I participate in this by getting the word out when classes are and of course helping with treats!

Why don't Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church's law of health and proper diet?

Joseph Smith personally talked with God and Jesus Christ in the 1800s before he restored the Mormon church. God continued to answer his personal prayers and prayers for guidance in the Church. In 1833, Joseph Smith received a revelation from God that is published as Doctrine and Covenants Section 89 in our scriptures. This section advises us that strong drinks and hot drinks are not for the body. To this day, members of the Mormon church practice their faith in God by obeying these standards. This section also gives us guidelines on how to stay physically and spiritually healthy. Show more Show less
