Hi I'm Thad!

The Gospel of Jesus Christ has given me a better life today, as well as hope in an even better life hereafter.

About Me

The most exciting thing about me (for me, at least!) is that I am a new husband. I love married life and starting a home and family. I work in government; my wife works in health care, and we both hold various responsibilities in our congregation. In my spare time, I like playing and watching sports, outdoor activities like hiking and camping, and indoor things like performing or listening to live music.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in another faith, but was not motivated to live it. Too many unanswered questions were part of the problem for me, the other was a low opinion of my self. The Gospel of Jesus Christ teaches me that I am of infinite worth, and that a way has been prepared for me to become all that my Father would have me be. I have two testimonies: a practical testimony, and a spiritual testimony. As I try to live the teachings of Christ, I can both see an improvement in my life (I am happier and more fulfilled in everyday life), and feel the testimony of the Holy Ghost (bringing me peace, and a witness that this is the true Gospel).

How I live my faith

I heard a funny quote once, something along the lines of "the only man who thinks it is easy to be good is the one who has never tried." That was certainly true for me. I thought people who tried to be good were boring, or simple-minded. After I received a testimony of the Gospel, I tried to be good. It was very hard and, at first, I was very discouraged. However, now I am excited that every day presents me with the opportunity to be a little better than I was yesterday. So, now, I live my faith by trying to stay aware of, and true to, the godliness that is in me and in everyone around me.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

The temple is the House of the Lord. It is not secret, but sacred. I recently attended the temple for the first time. It is a beautiful and peaceful place, quiet and clean. It is holy ground. I am so happy that I did not try to attend the temple earlier because I was not ready. I was unprepared, and would not have been able (or willing) to live up to the covenants I made there. Even now, living worthy of temple attendance requires constant diligence. But, it is a sweet and rewarding life. Show more Show less
